Changes to the Standard Fund Threshold (SFT)
On 18th September 2024 the Department of Finance published the outcome of an independent examination of the Standard Fund Threshold (SFT). The Minister outlined a number of decisions taken regarding the examination of the SFT.
Phased increases in the SFT of €200,000 per year, from 2026 until 2029
These will raise the SFT to €2.8m
From 2030 the SFT will be linked to increases in the average industrial wage
There is no immediate change to the SFT and to effect these changes, legislation will need to be enacted.
